Originating from southern Europe, water mint is a plant from wet regions which grows near ponds, streams and rivers. Widely used in antiquity and until the 18th century for its toning aromatic benefits, digestive properties and ability to treat headaches, it was then abandoned in favour of spearmint, peppermint and wild mint.
